History
El Paso is rich in history, annexed by the US during the Mexican American War in 1845. Its lawlessness during the early days of the Wild West made El Paso infamous throughout the nation, and during the subsequent Mexican revolution, the city's violence escalated. Post-revolution and leading up to WWII, El Paso settled down into a respectable city. Since that time, the major cultural influences are still its unique mix of Mexican and US cultures. The El Paso Museum of History is a huge repository for the history of the city, and a great site to explore when visiting.
