Mission Socorro was constructed over 300 years ago to house and Christianize Piro Indians seeking refuge from the Pueblo Revolt. It’s located to the southeast of central El Paso, near the banks of the Rio Grande. The mission’s original beams, bell, and a statue of Saint Michael still stand today.
